The ultra-thin cherry wood is laminated to a sturdy metal that holds everything in place. The slots allow for storage of business cards, pens, notes, etc. The sliding bar on the Post-It note pad allows you to write a note as wide or narrow as you choose, then tear it off to use the rest of the piece of paper later.
